KEI Benefit: Continuing Education for Employees

Posted by: Brittney Boe on Feb 26

In a lot of jobs, there are two types of continuing education: the stuff you have to do and the stuff you want to do. At Knobelsdorff Electric, we help you with both. Here’s how continuing education works at KEI…

Required Education at Knobelsdorff Electric

KEI Benefit: Continuing Education for EmployeesThe education that keeps your license up-to-date and in line with the law is the education we’re going to provide. All the training and certifications that need to be completed in order to continue with your work - from CPR and first aid to aerial lift training and any other safety requirement that comes out, we’re going to make sure you have the opportunity to get it.

Depending on the type of training, we’ll sometimes bring someone in to teach it, so you just have to show up in the same place you always do. In other situations, we’ll send our employees out to receive training. Which way it goes kind of depends, but we do like to hold the training at our location. We want to keep it easy, after all.

There are also lots of educational opportunities that aren’t required, but they will help employees learn new skills, add to their capabilities, or graduate into a position with greater responsibility. For that type of training, we provide each of our full-time employees with an annual budget of $500.

Employee Education Budget

If there’s a class, seminar, or other learning opportunity related to the job you do with our company, you can put some or all of that $500 toward it. For instance, our journeymen might be interested in expanding their skill sets so they can work with fiber optic cable or medium voltage power systems. Those with electrical engineer jobs might want to take a class on a new software, or one of our office employees might want to take a course on Microsoft Excel shortcuts. Those are all times when an employee would use their education budget.

Why We Invest in Employee Education

In our industry, everything changes, and it changes fast. There is always going to be something new. Whether it’s a technology, a method, or a piece of equipment, it all needs to be kept up with. Employees who join our team can end up in any position within the company if they're willing to work hard and keep learning.

We encourage every employee to learn because we want our employees to be the best. For them to enjoy their work, seek out opportunities to learn and grow, and to be proud of what they do.
